Welcome to
the revised website of the Gwent Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale
(CAMRA).
Find out what the Branch is up to, and join us at meetings, at
festivals and
socially. For details of CAMRA's aims or any other
information on
the Campaign, visit CAMRA.
Current
Membership is fast approaching 115,000 nationally, with 474
members
in Gwent at the last count.
For more
local information,
check "Events", contact the Social
Secretary, or check out the Gwent CAMRA Facebook page for
regular updates.
The
Branch is keen to encourage more members in Gwent to become active -
researching Real Ale outlets near you is a good start. We would also
like some up-to-date information on some of our pubs, which again is
where you can help. Please contact a member of the Branch Committee for
more information (see "Contact Us").
Consider supplying the
Branch with Beer scores
for pubs visited. We use the main Camra scale of 1-5 in increments of
1/2. The scores can also be entered onto the NBSS system here
As those of you who have
visited this site before will spot, it's been re-worked, hopefully for
the better. As part of this improvement we intend to incorporate a
Camra bespoke database into the site of Real Ale pubs and clubs in
Gwent. This database will have the advantage of being consistent in
appearance with many other branches, and will allow updates by several
people rather than just one as at present. If you like to be involved
in this, please contact webmaster
for details.
Gwent Camra
strongly supports
the
initiative, with 20 pubs
in the
area now being accredited (click on the "Locale Pubs" Button to find
out
which).

Don't forget the highlight of the Campaign's year, the Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court, London, August 3-7. |

The Real Heritage Pubs of Wales is now on sale, featuring pubs of history and character in the Principality. Note that the book does not focus on pubs selling Real Ale, so a good many will sell keg beer only. Copies may be purchased either from CAMRA online, www.heritagepubs.org.uk, or at one of the pubs featured in the book. |

Other useful sources of information are The Welsh Cider site, for cider enthusiasts, and the Brew Wales Blog, where you will find information about the wider South Wales area. |

Please check out the "Real Ale Tasting Society" (RATS) which, while not affiliated in any way to the Campaign, supports many of its aims, and the members are enthusiastic imbibers of Real Ale! |
